A chiropractic evaluation follows a DEXA full-body scan that assesses osteoporosis and body composition (fat vs. muscle). If necessary, peripheral, vascular and nervous system tests will be done. It is a fast and painless way to measure bone density (strength), and to evaluate bone mass. The most common areas are the hip, spine and sometimes the forearm.
The exam is non invasive and most patients remain fully clothed. Exposure to radiation is small, equaling 1/10th of the amount received from a chest x-ray, or the amount of naturally occurring background radiation encountered in one week.
