Modere Trim Review

When it comes to losing weight and in particular burning fat, a supplement alone is not going to suffice. However, if you couple a good diet with the right amount of exercise then the right supplement can go a long way to achieving impressive fat loss results.

The question today is whether Modere Trim is a supplement that can indeed help you burn fat or whether it is just an overpriced product with little that will do little to boost your metabolic rate.

Let’s find out in our full Modere Trim review.

Modere Trim – An Introduction

modere trim supplement

Modere Trim is brought to us by the well known health and wellness company Modere. With over 1 million customers globally, the company is a pretty well established brand that has established bases in multiple countries across the globe including the US, Canada, Europe, Japan, India, Australia and New Zealand.

All of their products are manufactured in GMP certified facilities in the US and they have won a range of beauty and cosmetic awards for their products and have been featured in the likes of Forbes as a result of the growth of the company.

One of their leading weight management products (as the term them) is Modere Trim, which is said to feature two key methods designed to help users enjoy body transformations.

These are some pretty bold claims so we wanted to put this to the test as best we could.

Modere Trim has become such a popular range for the company that it is now available in 4 different flavors and has some interesting bundle offers.

Modere Trim Review Conditions

Testing the efficacy of weight loss products is not easy as there are so many factors at play when it comes to generating reliable results. As such, we kept our testing parameters small and used testers who were related to members of our writing team.

In total, we had three testers, all of which were female and all of which were already measuring and tracking their daily calorie intake.

All 3 testers were also exercising 3 times per week for the duration of our 6 week test and had similar day to day activities that required them to undertake a mixture of active and sedentary activities.

How Modere Trim Works

Like many fat loss products, Modere Trim uses what they term as ‘two leading technologies’ to help reduce fat and improve muscle tone. Essentially, they use CLA (conjugated linoleum acid), which is a fatty acid found in grazing animals such as sheep and cattle, and uses this compound to help the body break down fatty tissue and use it as energy.

This all sounds great in theory but the science to support this is currently lacking and Modere are particularly clear on their website or product information as to which studies support their claims. Instead, they do make it very clear that the results they promote may not be typical and that factors such as exercise, motivation and sticking to a calorie-reduced diet will have a big impact on how effective their product is.

The second way in which Modere Trim works is to use a Collagen/HA Matrix technology to restore collagen and HA (hyaluronic acid) levels in the body which help to rejuvenate skin as well as to aid muscle and joint health.

There is plenty of evidence available to support the role that collagen plays in youthful looking skin and hair and it is well known that collagen can also play a vital role in muscle fitness and joint health – however, there are different types of collagen and different ways to get it in to the system – and again the details are vague from Modere on this.

Each bottle of Trim contains 30 servings and actually includes 45 calories in its own right. Now that might not sound like a lot but if you are on a calorie controlled diet of 1300 calories per day then 45 is eating in to that before you’ve even started your day.

To take the supplement, you take one 15ml tablespoon per day and it is recommended to take this in the morning.

Modere Trim Ingredients

Considering the relatively high price point of Modere Trim you might expect it be full of a range of ingredients that have additional benefits aside from just weight loss per se. However, the ingredient profile of Modere Trim is pretty underwhelming when compared to other weight loss products such as PhenQ and Trimtone (we’ll offer a direct comparison shortly).

Each 15ml serving of Modere Trim includes a total of 5g of their proprietary blend which includes:

  • Conjugated Linoleic Acid (from Safflower Seed Oil)
  • Liquid BioCell (Hydrolyzed Chicken Sternal Cartilage Extract)
  • Chondroitin Sulfate
  • Hylaluronic Acid

The other 10g are made up of:

  • Water
  • Vegetable Gylcerin
  • Flavouring
  • Citric Acid
  • Xanthan Gum
  • Turmeric
  • Sunflower Seed Oil
  • Potassium Sorbate
  • Mixed Tocopherois
  • Rebaudioside A

There are a lot of additional ingredients (as listed above) that are purely there for color, flavor and as a preservative. This is not a bad thing in and of itself as lots of products have this, but it when it comes to a supplement you want it to be full of ‘good stuff’ rather than fillers.

Part of the issue here is with the delivery method. Any kind of drinkable liquid will be like this as opposed to a capsule that doesn’t need to account for flavor or consistency.

As you can see from the ingredients, there is chicken cartilage found in the product which of course rules it out for vegans and vegetarians and the lack of vitamins is also surprising.

The Results

Let’s be honest, this is the important bit and this is why you’re here reading this Modere Trim review. It’s all about the results and whether it actually works!

We can talk all day about ingredients but if Modere Trim has somehow come up with a secret proprietary blend of ingredients that burns fat and tones the body then it’s no wonder they are so popular – so have the cracked the secret fat burning code?

Sadly no.

Or at least not from what our testers experienced.

Our testers were all 6 weeks in to a calorie controlled diet and all were on a deficit of 200 calories below their estimated break even point between energy consumption and energy expenditure. They had all been tracking and logging their weight loss against their calorie intake for the 6 weeks prior to starting to take Modere Trim.

Each then kept to this 200 calorie daily deficit and tried as hard as possible to keep all other factors (diet, exercise, daily habits) as consistent as possible with only discernable change being the addition of taking one serving of Modere Trim each morning prior to breakfast.

The results were as follows:

Tester 1:

Starting weight: 70.3kg

6 week weight: 69.1kg

Average weekly weight loss: 0.2kg per week

Tester 2:

Starting weight: 67.7kg

6 week weight: 67.1kg

Average weekly weight loss: 0.1kg per week

Tester 3:

Starting weight: 66.1kg

6 week weight: 65.7kg

Average weekly weight loss: 0.06kg per week

Now this data is useful and of course does show progression but the question is whether Modere Trim made any difference to their rate of progress. It’s also worth mentioning that weight loss was not the only goal for these testers, rather fat loss was more the aim.

The reality is though, that all three testers saw a drop in their weekly weight loss average compared to the 6 weeks prior to starting to take the supplement. This is perhaps not completely unexpected as the longer you stay in a calorie deficit the lower the rate of weight loss occurs. But, the difference was minimal in all three cases and each of them felt their results were underwhelming.

PhenQ – Modere Trim Alternative

PhenQ is consistently one of our top performers in the weight loss and fat burning categories. With an all-natural profile and clinically backed ingredients it is hard to look past this product when it comes to helping the body to burn fat.

Alternatives

So Trim by Modere was less than impressive in terms of results and we already know that it’s pretty expensive with a month’s worth of the supplement costing just under $100. So, what else is available for either a similar price or cheaper that can do a better job?

There are two products that we consider to be really effective thermogenic fat burners here at PathMed and both retail for cheaper than Modere Trim.

PhenQ is our recommended alternative and is suitable for both men and women. It has a completely natural ingredient profile that is vegan friendly and the company behind it cite a wide range of medical studies in support of the ingredients included.

They also have a proprietary blend of what they call ‘Capsimax’ but they are very open about what is in it. Ingredients in PhenQ include Capsicum, Piperine, Caffeine and Vitamin B3. Additional ingregients found in PhenQ are the essential mineral Chromium Picolinate, Nopal and the amino acid L-Carnitine.

You can view their website for more information and links to their studies but when it comes to fat loss there is not much out there that can compete with PhenQ in our experience.

Trimtone is the other product we would recommend and although it is very much marketed at females, males could also benefit from it (if you look past the marketing).

Trimtone is also high in caffeine, contains green coffee, green tea, grains of paradise (part of the ginger family) and Glucomannan (which is designed to help keep you satiated for longer).

They offer a 100 day money back guarantee and its all-natural ingredients not only appeal to their audience but actually work according to their customers.

In our testing, Trimtone was a clear favorite and consistently delivered some of the best results.

Trimtone – Modere Trim Alternative

Trimtone is another top performer when it comes to fat burners. We much prefer the ingredient profile of Trimtone when compared to Modere Trim and although it is marketed at women, it’s also great for men!

Verdict

We think that Modere Trim could be on to something with the inclusion of CLA and there are some studies that support its inclusion as a weight loss aid. However, there is not enough data for us to be 100% confident (or even 70% confident) in its use as a weight loss supplement and therefore it is really hard for us to completely back this product.

The addition of collagen is one that will likely have some aesthetic benefits for consumers but these are more likely to be seen within the skin, hair and nails rather than through any kind of weight or fat loss and again there is simply not enough data to support it inclusion for that primary purpose.

Modere Trim is a well put together product and one that is marketed well. However, it is expensive and in our testing did not deliver the results we or our testers were hoping for. We’d sooner suggest our alternative products that we are much more confident in than to recommend our readers buy Modere Trim.
