It is worth comparing it against the likes of PhenQ as it has a similar ethos of using natural ingredients and essentially aims to work through increasing thermogenesis in a similar way to PhenQ. Although it is aimed at women this is predominantly a marketing angle and there is absolutely no reason why men couldn’t take this supplement.

Leanbean is based in the US and like PhenQ it can be shipped worldwide – with many of their shipping options being free of charge.

Leanbean is highly regarded as a brand and is popular among its users. Due to its branding, it has a very high percentage of female users and has some high profile users such as Bree Kleintop (model and lifestyle surfer) who endorse it publicly.

Leanbean Vs PhenQ – Ingredients

The ingredients found in both Leanbean and PhenQ are all completely natural, free from additives and are completely vegetarian and vegan friendly as they both use vegetable based capsules.

Both companies have gone to great lengths to put together an ingredient profile that is designed to work wonders when it comes to fat loss – and both give citations to studies that support the ingredients included.

Surprisingly, unlike many fat loss supplements, Leanbean and PhenQ have very different ingredients in order to achieve the results that they promise – with only one ingredient that both use.

Chromium Picolinate is the one ingredient that both supplements include and this trace mineral is included to help control blood sugar levels and in turn help to control cravings. This is not a deal breaker of an ingredient to include but it makes a lot of sense that both companies have opted to include this in their blend.


Ingredients Unique To PhenQ

Many supplements in the weight loss space tend to have very similar ingredients so it’s a pretty unique situation for both PhenQ and Leanbean to have such different ingredient profiles to each other. Let’s take a look at the ingredients that make up PhenQ that are not found in Leanbean.

Capsimax Powder: Capsimax is actually a blend of different ingredients – one of which actually is found in Leanbean. Capsimax includes capsicum, caffeine, niacin (vitamin B3) and piperine – the latter being the common ingredient between both supplements. This blend is designed to ramp up the thermogenesis in the body and therefore is thought to increase the speed at which the body can burn energy. Piperine (which is in PhenQ and Leanbean) is an interesting addition as it is believed this ingredient can halt the creation of new fat cells – again making it a potent ingredient to use for a fat burner.

Caffeine Anhydrous: One of the key differences between the two supplements is that PhenQ includes caffeine whereas Leanbean does not (or at least has only trace amounts). Caffeine is an ingredient that divides opinion (more so among consumers than in the scientific community) but the benefits that its stimulation bring are rarely debated. It aids thermogenesis but perhaps more importantly it can lead to a feeling of alertness and give the user a feeling of greater energy – something that is very beneficial when in a calorie deficit. Unless you have a specific reason to not want to take on caffeine then it really puts PhenQ up there as one of the best.

Nopal: This extract comes from the Nopal Cactus plant and is rich in amino acids as well as being very high in fiber. This means that you get the energy boost from the amino acids as well as an increased satiety thanks to the fiber. It also has digestive benefits and can help reduce water retention. Not many fat burning supplements include Nopal but we think it is an excellent inclusion.

L-carnitine Fumarate: L-carnitine is another amino acid that is found naturally in red meat, vegetables and nuts. It is thought that this amino acid can help turn fat stores in the body in to energy and thus helps the body to burn fat more easily. It can also provide a welcome energy boost.

Ingredients Unique To Leanbean

You will see from the list below that Leanbean is packed full of more ingredients than PhenQ. More doesn’t always mean better though so let’s take a look at exactly what is included inside the Leanbean capsules.

Glucomannan: One of the most used ingredients when it comes to fat burners it is really surprising that PhenQ does not include this potent ingredient in its arsenal. Conversely, Leanbean has it in abundance with 3000mg of the naturally derived dietary fiber that comes from Konjac plant root. Glucomannan helps provide a feeling of fullness and can also provide you with an energy boost – both vital for those on a calorie restricted diet.

Choline: This is an ingredient that has some studies to support its inclusion although we would say that the data is far from conclusive. That being said, this important nutrient can reportedly help with normal metabolic functions and is not going to have any negative side effects.

Chloride: This electrolyte is included to help the stomach with normal digestive functions and although there is again little to support this ingredient in terms of fat loss it should help with digestion which in turn should lead to a healthier gut.

Zinc: This is one of the most well known supplements that can have a radical impact on the health of those taking it. Here we see it being added for its anti-inflammatory properties and its ability to aid the metabolism of fatty acids and carbohydrates. This essential mineral is only ever going to be a positive inclusion in any supplement.

Green Coffee: Green coffee beans have much higher levels of anti-oxidants as they have not been roasted. Having the beans in this pure form means they have a higher concentration of chlorogenic acid which has been shown to aid body recomposition. Although these studies are not conclusive, there is some evidence that points towards them being effective in this way. There is some caffeine to be found in Leanbean as a result of the green coffee beans but it equates to around 10% of the caffeine you would get from a single cup of coffee – so it is pretty negligible and certainly won’t cause any mid-afternoon energy crashes.

Turmeric: Turmeric has been hailed as a super-supplement in recent years and sales of turmeric supplements in their own right seem to be at an all-time high. Leanbean includes turmeric as a substitute for caffeine anhydrous (which is found in PhenQ) and does so for its thermogenic properties. Caffeine Anhydrous is thought to be problematic for some women and so it is often declared that PhenQ is more of a male fat burner. Either way, if you have any concerns about caffeine anhydrous then Leanbean is a safe choice and turmeric is a natural ingredient that can help with more than just fat burning.

Garcinia Cambogia: A classic weight loss ingredient that became over-used and over-sold for the early part of this century. However, the Garcinia Cambogia fruit does have its benefits as it leaves you feeling fuller for longer and is rich in Hydroxycitric acid and is commonly used in helping to treat obesity. We think the inclusion of Garcinia Cambogia is a great move by Leanbean.

Acai Berry: Another ingredient that became popular in weight loss circles but another that is all-natural and worthy of inclusion. In addition to its weight loss benefits it has also been found to be an effective nootropic, great for heart health and can also improve the quality of the skin.

Vitamin B6 & B12: Two vitamins that have been found to aid effective metabolism and that can also increase energy and reduce tiredness. Vitamin B6 and B12 are both excellent additions to Leanbean.

It is often very difficult to determine the true efficacy of any kind of supplement as there are always so many factors at play – and modifying just one factor at a time can be almost impossible. That being said, we have been able to test both products ourselves using 4 different parameters.

We had two females and two males testing. One male and one female tested PhenQ and the other male and female tested Leanbean.

Let’s take a look at how PhenQ stacked up against Leanbean…

Energy Levels: PhenQ and Leanbean seemed to perform similarly in terms of energy levels although both PhenQ users reported feeling less energized in the afternoon compared to the mornings. This is likely due to the caffeine element of the supplement.

Satiation: PhenQ performed better at keeping our pair full for longer than Leanbean. This surprised us as we had hypothesized that Leanbean would perform better in this regard due to the glucomannan.

Weight Loss: All four testers experienced weight loss in line with their targets so there was no clear winner here. However, both PhenQ users reported that it was not as hard as they expected to retain their calorie deficit whereas Leanbean users said it was moderately difficult.

Digestion: Leanbean and PhenQ both performed well here with no negative side effects in terms of digestion to report.

Side Effects

We wanted to find out if there were any unexpected side effects from using either supplement but none of our testers found any negatives with either. Of course, this was a very limited test so it is wise to consult a doctor before starting with any new supplement.

User Reviews

As much as our testers gave us some excellent insights in to both supplements, we didn’t have the resources to do this at scale. So we thought we’d take a look at a range of user reviews for both Leanbean and PhenQ.

PhenQ: PhenQ reviews were incredibly positive overall from what we could find online. It seems the common thread is that those users who commit to their nutrition and exercise as well as taking PhenQ daily, achieve their fat loss goals.

PhenQ and Leanbean Head to Head

Comparing PhenQ and Leanbean is pretty simple on the one hand but then quite complex on the other. Both supplements aim to achieve the same thing – to increase fat loss through thermogenesis – but both use very different ingredients to achieve it.

Both supplements use completely natural ingredients with PhenQ probably having the edge in terms of quality of ingredients but Leanbean having a more well balanced ingredient profile. PhenQ is slightly better value for money if opting for the bulk buy option as you will get a 5 month supply for the same price as a Leanbean 4 month supply. However, 4 or 5 months is going to be plenty of time for most people to stay within a calorie deficit for – much longer than that and it will become very difficult to maintain.

PhenQ is probably better for those looking for a short and sharp effort – anything between 2-5 months. The amount of weight you can lose in that time is likely around 25 pounds depending on your starting point.

Leanbean is probably better for those looking for a longer term solution. The reason for this is that it has a better all-round ingredient profile that is more sustainable and better for your overall health. The amount of weight loss in a 5 month period is going to match that of PhenQ so long as the calorie deficit is the same.

If you are female, it is probably a better option to go for Leanbean over PhenQ (although both will work) just to avoid the Caffeine Anhydrous and anyone who already drinks a lot of coffee is likely to want to not increase their caffeine intake too much either.

PhenQ Vs Leanbean – Verdict

Both PhenQ and Leanbean are excellent aids when it comes to burning fat, but neither will get the job done without the right approach nutritionally and in terms of exercise. Nutrition and supplementation is going to have more of an impact than just exercise though, so it is vital that you get both in check no matter which supplement you want to opt for.

Both will give you results. PhenQ will likely make it a little easier in terms of energy and giving you that feeling of fullness, but Leanbean is also highly effective in this regard.

We’d suggest making the decision based on the caffeine intake. If you want to utilize the stimulating properties of caffeine then PhenQ is your go-to choice. For those who want to avoid caffeine then Leanbean is the supplement for you.

Whichever you choose though, you will be giving yourself the best chance of shedding fat with as little pain as possible.
